San Jose Mercury News: In East Bay, Honda tests the automotive future

CONCORD — In a small corner of Contra Costa County, amid decaying remnants of a bygone military era, Honda automakers are envisioning the future of automated transportation.

Within four years, Honda plans to have vehicles entering and exiting freeways and changing lanes without a driver ever having to press on the gas, hit the brakes or steer. Within the next 20 years, those cars will become connected not only to each other, but also to infrastructure.
